Thank you for your interest in the Old Brooklyn Youth League, Cleveland’s oldest and most respected CO-ED youth sports organization, in the running for the #1 most fun kids summer programs throughout Northeastern Ohio. Since 1978, over 25,000 participants have played ball in our local Cleveland community. OBYL allows players between the ages of 4-18 to maximize their success and enjoyment of this great American game.

Playing sports is vital in teaching our children fundamental values, such as strong work ethic, building self confidence, how to compete fairly with others, teamwork, good sportsmanship, grow socially, adapt within a team environment and good health. By teaching children about the importance of staying active and fit from a young age, we are helping to show them the value of exercise and staying healthy.

The lessons our children learn from being involved with kids sports activities are lessons that they often will carry with them for the rest of their lives. OBYL youth summer programs coordinators have found that the best way to promote these values is by supporting organizations that make youth sports possible.

All games are played using a softball (11″ for T-ball. 12″ for Coach, Kids and High School divisions), slow-pitch (under-hand), official softball bats and regulated by official ASA umpires. See rules for details.

  • T-Ball (Division I)
  • Kids Pitch (Division II)
  • Coach Pitch (Division III)
  • High School (Division IV) – For players ages 14-18 (must provide a copy of valid id/birth certificate)

FAQs

Would my kids be on the same team?
During online Player Registration, make your request in the “Comments” section. If you have already registered, please contact us and we can adjust things as needed if at all possible. 95% of the time, it’s not a problem assuming it’s age appropriate for the players.

We’re going on vacation, would my kids still be able to register/play?
Yes, your kids will be able to play even if you have a vacation scheduled during our baseball season. Players will not incur any form of penalty. In fact, it is mandatory that all players play a minimum of three consecutive innings per game.

Is it necessary to be a resident of Old Brooklyn/Cleveland in order to register/play?
No, you can live anywhere in the United States. As long as you’re able to make practice and games, you’re good to go.

I’d like to volunteer as a coach, how do I do that?
Simple, just contact us.

What are the normal game times/practices?
That depends on the particular team Coach. Coach contact information will be provided once your player is placed on a team. It can also be found on the division schedule.
